Cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies are two of my favorite desserts. If I have the chance to combine the two, it is a dessert made in heaven. While you may have had other dessert lasagna recipe, you have never had one quite like this one. Different than many of the other popular chocolate lasagna recipes, this chocolate chip cookie lasagna recipe is so good, it will be the only one you want to make.

Variations on a Dessert Lasagna Recipe

This is such a  great recipe, and if you really want to change this recipe up, here are a few ideas.

  • Add Peanut Butter – You can either add peanut butter chips to the chocolate chip cookie layer or simply turn it into a peanut butter cookie dough. You can even change the cookie dough to whatever flavor cookie you like.
  • Change the Pudding – While this recipe calls for chocolate and vanilla pudding, you can use whatever flavor pudding you like. Change it up. See how butterscotch or another flavor would taste with the cookie layer.

Can I turn this into a chocolate trifle?

This is a fun dessert that you can even turn into a chocolate trifle. Using individual cups to create chocolate trifles, you can turn this recipe into single servings. Start by baking the cookie dough as cookies. Lay the cookie down into the cup and then add the pudding layers. Layer the cups just like you would if making the full size version.

Can this Chocolate Lasagna be Frozen

This is not a good option to be frozen. While the cookie layer can be made and frozen, whether is the cookie dough or if the layer has been baked. The cheesecake layer can also be frozen, but the entire dessert together will not freeze well. If this is a dessert that you would like to have on hand and want to premake it, make each layer and freeze it separately. Then all you need to do is thaw and assemble the dessert.

How Long Does Chocolate Chip Lasagna Last

This is a dessert that has to be stored in the refrigerator because of the pudding cheesecake layers. Store the dessert lasagna in the refrigerator covered well with plastic or using a lid that fits the casserole dish. When stored properly, this dessert will last about 3 days in the refrigerator. Honestly, if your house is anything like mine, the chocolate dessert won’t even last that long.
