Do I need to boil the potatoes before baking them?
No, it is not necessary to boil the potatoes first. Simply poke them with a fork and place them in the oven to bake.
Should I peel the potatoes?
The potatoes do not need to be peeled. The skins actually add a layer of flavor to the casserole. This recipe does want you to peel the potatoes, but they do not need to be.
Are there any variations?
You could substitute Sweet Potatoes in place of Russets, you can add mushrooms or spinach for a new flavor. You could also mash the potatoes to give it a creamier taste.

- Baking Potatoes
- Sour Cream
- Mayonnaise
- Onion
- Bacon Bits
- Butter
- Ranch Dressing Mix
How to make Loaded Baked Potato Casserole:
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400º F / 200º C.
Step 2: Scrub potatoes and prick them with a fork.
Step 3: Bake for 1 hour and let potatoes cool.
Step 4: Cut the potatoes into chunks.
Step 5: Preheat oven to 350º F / 170º C.
Step 6: Melt the butter in the microwave. In a large bowl, combine butter, sour cream, mayonnaise, onion, ranch dressing mix, and bacon bits.
Step 7: Stir until well-mixed.
Step 8: Add potatoes.
Then, toss until coated.
Step 9: Spoon potatoes into a baking dish.
Step 10: Bake for 45 minutes until hot and bubbly.

- 5 lbs Baking Potatoes
- 8 oz Sour Cream
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 ⁄2 cup Onion, Chopped
- 1 ⁄2 cup Bacon Bits
- 1 ⁄2 cup Butter, Melted
- 1 oz Ranch Dressing Mix

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400º F / 200º C.
- Scrub potatoes and prick with a fork.
- Bake 1 hour and let potatoes cool.
- Cut the potatoes into chunks.
- Preheat oven to 350º F / 170º C.
- Melt the butter in the microwave. In a large bowl, combine butter, sour cream, mayonnaise, onion, ranch dressing mix, and bacon bits.
- Stir until well mixed.
- Add potatoes and toss until coated.
- Spoon potatoes into a baking dish.
- Bake for 45 minutes until hot and bubbly.
