  • Philly cheesesteak meat
  • Olive oil
  • Mushrooms
  • Onion
  • Chicken broth
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

Slider buns: We recommend traditional slider buns or Hawaiin sweet roll buns for the ultimate flavor and texture. You can swap the buns for another type of roll or bun that suit’s your family’s preferences.

Worcestershire sauce: Swap the Worcestershire sauce for coconut aminos or soy sauce if you’re not a fan of Worcestershire sauce or if you do not have it readily available in your pantry.

Chicken broth: If you’re out of chicken broth, consider adding chicken bouillon cubes to some water to make a substitute broth. Keep in mind that chicken bouillon cubes already contain plenty of salt, so it’s important to cut back on the salt recommended if you go this route.

Onion and mushrooms: If you’re not a fan of onions or mushrooms (due to their texture), you can omit the mushrooms and onions and use onion powder instead.

Mozzarella: We highly recommend mozzarella for this quick Philly cheesesteak sliders recipe, due to the traditional addition of mozzarella with cheesesteak sliders. However, you can also try new cheeses, such as an Italian blend, to mix it up a bit!

How to Make It

Step 1. Set the oven to broil and toast the buns. Broiling your slider buns will only require 1 to 3 minutes, especially if set on high. Keep an eye on the buns as they are toasting to prevent burning them before you get started with the rest of this recipe.

Step 2. Add the meat and olive oil to a skillet and sauté over medium-high until cooked through. Set aside.

Step 3. In the same skillet, sauté the mushrooms and onions until tender.

Step 4. Once the onions and mushrooms begin to give off an aroma, return the meat to the skillet.

Add the broth.

Add the Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5. Saute until the liquid has cooked down.

Step 6. Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese. Allow the cheese to melt over the meat mixture. Remove from heat. Serve the mixture on your toasted buns. It’s that simple!

Enjoy!
