This is a wonderfully simple, yet it is so good, recipe for Salmon Patties. This is one of those recipes that I might have brushed right past in my younger days. The recipe is so basic, so simple, yet it makes Salmon Patties that taste better than those that are detailed and difficult. Nowadays, I am thrilled when I come across recipes that are easy to make, with just a few ingredients.

Life gets in the way almost daily and I seem to run out of time when it comes to making dinner.

This is also one of those recipes that can be played with until you find a way to make it that is family approved. That is why I am thankful for basic recipes such as this one. This recipe also includes the instructions for  Garlic Lime Mayonnaise. This is a must for Salmon Patties.

You can certainly use other toppings, but you will not regret trying this Garlic Lime Mayo.

What are Salmon Patties?

Salmon Patties are a mixture of Salmon, breadcrumbs, egg and seasonings. This mix is formed into patties and then fried in oil.

Can I use canned Salmon?

Sure you can, be sure to look for Salmon that is packed in water rather than oil. You should also look for Salmon that are Wild Caught. It is higher in Omega 3 Fatty Acids and lower in mercury contaminants than farm-raised Salmon.

What varieties are available for me to try?

You can add in different seasonings such as Cayenne to give them a kick of heat. You could use Seasoned Bread Crumbs to add flavor.

Can these be made Gluten Free?

You can certainly make the Salmon Patties Gluten free. Choose Gluten Free bread crumbs or gluten-free crackers instead of using regular bread crumbs.

Ingredients for Salmon Patties:

Salmon Patties Ingredients
  • Frozen salmon steaks
  • Egg
  • Whole wheat bread crumbs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic  powder
  • Mustard powder
  • Canola oil, for frying

How to make Salmon Patties:

Step1: Thaw salmon in a bowl of lukewarm water for 10 minutes, or until thawed.

Step2: Drain and add to a bowl.

Step3: Break into pieces with a fork and your fingers.

Step4: Remove any pieces of skin.

Step5: Add remaining ingredients.

How to make Garlic Lime Mayo:

Ingredients:

½ C. Mayo

1 tsp. Garlic powder

1 tsp fresh Lime juice

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients and mix well.

How do I store the Salmon Patties?

Once the Salmon Patties cool to room temperature, you will place them into an airtight container and then into the refrigerator. You can store Salmon Patties for up to 3 days. Seafood does not tend to last long being stored.

How can I reheat the Salmon Patties?

Preheat the oven to 350*, place the patties on a baking tray and place the tray in the oven. You can heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the Salmon Patties are heated through.

Can I freeze the Salmon Patties?

You can freeze the Salmon Patties. Simply wrap them individually in plastic wrap or foil and place into a freezer safe bag. To reheat, place them in the refrigerator to thaw overnight. Reheat as directed above.
