The only real difference is that the Amish Onion Fritters contain Corn Meal and sugar. Regular Onion Fritters do not.

Amish Onion Fritter Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour
- Cornmeal
- Granulated sugar
- Baking powder
- Whole milk
- Chopped onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
How to make Amish onion fritters?
Step 1. Place all of the ingredients minus the oil into a mixing bowl, and stir together until well combined.
Then, add the onions.
Step 2. Heat ½ -1 inch of oil in a deep-sided skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.
Step 3. When the oil has reached a temperature of at least 175 degrees, drop the batter into the skillet by the tablespoon, spreading it out a bit as you go.
Step 4. Brown the fritters on one side, flip, and brown them on the other before removing them to drain on a paper towel-lined rack.
Step 5. Serve with sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce if desired.

Turned out real good. The Indian version has green chillies and gram flour instead of cirn starch. But this recipe turned out better.
