Amish Onion Fritter Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Granulated sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Whole milk
  • Chopped onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

How to make Amish onion fritters?

Step 1. Place all of the ingredients minus the oil into a mixing bowl, and stir together until well combined.

Then, add the onions.

Step 2. Heat ½ -1 inch of oil in a deep-sided skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.

Step 3. When the oil has reached a temperature of at least 175 degrees, drop the batter into the skillet by the tablespoon, spreading it out a bit as you go.

Step 4. Brown the fritters on one side, flip, and brown them on the other before removing them to drain on a paper towel-lined rack.
