How to make Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom Gravy:

Step 1. In a bowl, combine 1 lb of ground beef, ¼ cup of breadcrumbs, and 1 large egg.

Step 4. Mix with your hands until well combined.

Step 5. Form the meat mixture into four even patties.

Step 6. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Simmer until the meat is cooked through and the gravy is thickened.
  • Serve over the prepared mashed potatoes.

What should be served with Salisbury Steak?

As this recipe notes, it is most often served with mashed potatoes and a Mushroom Gravy. If you want another side, choose a green or bright-colored vegetable. A nice dinner salad is good also.
