How to make Crispy Southern Fried Chicken:
Step 1. Mix together 2 cups of water in a dish.
Then, add 2 tbsp salt.
Then, add the chicken. Brine the chicken for at least 1 hour.
Step 2. Remove the chicken from the brine.
Step 3. Mix together the egg and milk in a shallow bowl.
Step 4. On a plate, combine the self-rising flour, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, soup base, and poultry seasoning. Stir to combine well.
Step 5. Coat the chicken in the flour mixture.
Then dip it into the egg mixture.
Finally, coat it again in the flour mixture.
Step 6. Heat the oil in a deep-sided skillet over medium-high heat on the stove. You want the oil to be about 375 degrees.
Step 7. Cook the chicken for about 7-8 minutes on each side until completely cooked through with an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees.
Step 8. Drain the excess oil from the chicken on a paper towel-lined plate before serving.
