Ingredients Notes & Substitutions
There are ways to substitute ingredients if you aren’t a fan of peanuts or there is another issue you want to address. The following is how to alter some of the key ingredients:
- Unsalted and Salted Peanuts: If you don’t like peanuts, you instead use pumpkin seeds or tigernuts (which are an allergy-friendly option). If you just don’t like peanuts, you can sub out for walnuts or pecans.
- Chocolate Chips: If you don’t have chocolate chips on hand and don’t want to run to the store, you can use a cut up chocolate bar, chopped down to a similar size. Or, if you want to cut the caloric impact, you can opt for low-sugar options.
- Peanut Butter Chips: Use natural peanut butter and make your own chips for a healthier option, or get no-sugar-added peanut butter chips.
- Candy Wafers: You can sub out with almond bark for this simple crockpot Christmas crack meal.

Tips for Success
This quick crockpot Christmas crack recipe is simple and easy-to-make. However, there are some things you can do to improve the overall taste and make the process even easier. For example:
You might ask, could you spoon the Christmas crack into cupcake liners? The answer is, of course you can! This will make it easier in the long run. You can also cut the recipe in half to have a smaller batch to make less if you just want to treat your family.
You can also make this on the stove top as long as you use a Candy Thermometer. This ensures that the temperature will be at the right stage to make the Candy crack. This is a more difficult option, though.

Storage & Reheating
These candies should be stored in an airtight container. They can last up to 1 week. If you want to take them with you to an event, make sure that you store them well ahead of time and don’t let them get too hot or too cold. This means the best place to store them is a cool, dry, dark place like a cupboard or pantry. Do not refrigerate unless necessary, as this type of candy does not do well with the moisture.
If you want to freeze for later, long-term, you can in a vacuum sealed, moisture-proof freezer bag. Make sure to separate all the candies from each other with wax paper or parchment and then set out to thaw. No need to reheat this quick crockpot Christmas crack recipe.
