Why I love Garlic Shrimp?
- The garlic compliments the shrimp and adds an extraordinary flavor.
- It goes great by itself or with other ingredients like pasta, rice, or as a side with steak.
- Garlic shrimp is an extravagant snack to serve at parties, and it’s quick and easy to cook.
What is the best way to cook shrimp?
It is all in preference, but sauteing it for a dish takes less time, and you can serve it quickly. Stovetop in a nonstick frying pan works best.
What not to do when cooking shrimp?
The primary thing you don’t want to do when cooking shrimp is to overcook it. It only takes four minutes for each side at the most to cook it thoroughly. Overcooking will turn the shrimp hard and give it a rubber texture when chewing. The last thing to remember is that shrimp is saltwater seafood. Do not add too much salt to the shrimp, or it will be overpowering.
Should I rinse shrimp before cooking?
It is a good idea to rinse the shrimp, especially if it is fresh. Some people give it a quick boil for about a minute right before cooking it. If you have to de-vein the shrimp, it is also best to rinse off the shrimp from all the debris in the digestive tract.
How to serve Garlic Shrimp?
If you are throwing a party, the ideal way to serve garlic shrimp is on your favorite tray with toothpicks. The guests will grab the toothpicks and use them to pick up the shrimp. Another great idea is serving it over pasta or rice. Six to eight pieces per person are sufficient if it is meant as a side dish.
Cooking Tips:
- Do not overcook. Cook no more or less than three to four minutes per side.
- Do not undercook. Raw shrimp can be harmful.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil works best instead of butter unless the recipe calls for it.
- Always cook on high heat, and do not leave the stove area too long. It is in the best interest not to multitask.
