Great Tasting Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken
Ever since I got my Instant Pot it has been my favorite kitchen appliance. I use it several times a week because it just makes my life easier. I can make a great tasting dinner from frozen chicken and it is still on the dinner in no time. One of my favorite Instant Pot chicken recipes is Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken. Healthy and easy to make, this honey garlic chicken is sure to disappear every time I make it.
What to Serve With Garlic Chicken
I love chicken because it is so versatile. It goes with just about anything. Making a side dish for garlic chicken is so easy. Here are some of my favorites:
Variations to Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe
What I love about this recipe is it is an easy recipe to customize. If you want to change it around a little there are endless possibilities. You can customize it to the individual tastes and likes of your family or guests.
- Add vegetables directly to the sauce and cook it all together
- Add more garlic or less honey
- Use different cuts of chicken – While I use boneless chicken breast you can use boneless chicken thighs, skinless chicken legs.
- Try it with Pork – This is a chicken recipe but these same flavors go amazing with pork. You can use this recipe for pork tenderloin or boneless pork chops.
What is in the Honey Garlic Sauce
This is such a simple sauce to make. That is part of what makes it so perfect. It is only a few ingredients to create a delicious sauce that causes a great flavor deep in the chicken. The sauce is made of water, honey, soy sauce, and garlic. It thickens using cornstarch at the end. It is that simple. This honey garlic sauce tastes better than anything you can get in a bottle at the grocery store and it is healthier too without the added sugar, additives and preservatives.
How to Store Chicken with Garlic Sauce Recipe
Once this chicken with garlic sauce recipe has finished in the Instant Pot, you might find that you have leftovers. If you do, you will want to store the leftovers in the refrigerator once it has cooled. Using an airtight container or wrapping the cooking pot of the Instant Pot well with plastic, you can put the chicken and sauce in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Can Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken be Frozen
If you find that you will not be able to eat the leftovers of the Instant Pot Honey Garlic Chicken before it spoils, you can freeze the leftovers. It is best to freeze the leftovers right away if you will not eat it in time. Put the leftover honey garlic chicken in an airtight container or use freezer bags. I like to use freezer bags because they lay flat in the freezer, take up less space and I can write directly on the bag what it is and when it was made.
You can also make this honey garlic chicken as a freezer meal. Either cook the chicken in the Instant Pot first and then freeze the chicken and sauce to save for an easy meal another night or you can include all of the ingredients, except the cornstarch in a freezer bag. Freeze it all together so that when it is time to cook the chicken, you simply have to take the bag and empty it into the Instant Pot.
How to Reheat the Garlic Chicken
When I make this garlic chicken I love to have leftovers the next day. If I am heating all of the leftovers at once, I like to heat this in the oven. I like to let the chicken slowly reabsorb more of the garlic sauce. If I am only heating up a little bit for lunch or for only one person, I will usually heat it in the microwave.
