Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
The ingredients for this quick brownies with peanut butter fudge frosting recipe is pretty straight forward. However, if you do have issues with any of the ingredients, there is usually a good substitution available, such as outlined below:
Peanut Butter Chips: Use almond bark and peanut butter if you don’t have peanut butter chips. If it’s a taste or allergy issue, you can instead use chocolate chips (though the taste will be different) but the texture will be similar. You can also use seed butter spreads.
Sweetened Condensed Milk: You can make sweetened condensed milk by mixing sugar and either heavy cream or coconut milk. You can purchase sweetened condensed coconut milk as an alternative which is a healthier ingredient.
Brownie mix: You can also make your own brownie mixture but it’s easier to just use the mix.

Tips for Success
Avoid overmixing when making your brownies. Mix only until the dry streaks of cocoa are no longer visible after adding wet ingredients. If you worry you might mix too much, then fold the ingredients instead using a spatula.
Also, when making brownies, which is the foundation of this dish, be sure to use the right pan. The right pan will be light colored or metal. Darker pans can cause the brownies to burn on the edges. It’s important, also, to reduce the temperature of your oven by about 25 degrees if you are using a glass pan.
You will know your brownies are done when you can insert a toothpick and only pull out a few, moist crumbs. The center will be a little soft with the edges set. This is ideal and makes the best base for the frosting you will add.
Storage & Reheating
You can store frosted brownies at room temperature for between 2 and 3 days if they are in an airtight container. If you want to make them last a bit longer, you can put them in a proper container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Keep in mind that if you sub out the frosting for anything perishable (like cream cheese), then you will not want to store your frosted brownies outside the fridge.
When you are ready to enjoy them once again, you can microwave brownies individually for about 10–15 seconds on a microwave-safe dish. If you have an entire batch, you can use the oven and bake for 5–10 minutes at around 350 degrees to warm them through.
If you want to freeze frosted brownies after making the best brownies with peanut butter fudge frosting recipe, make sure that they are completely cool before storing them in individual squares. You can use plastic wrap or foil. Then, store them in an airtight container or freezer bag. They will be good for up to 6 weeks.
Serving Suggestions
These frosted brownies make a wonderful addition to a variety of events and the perfect close to a delicious meal. Serve them with ice cream or alongside other chocolate treats for even better results. Make sure to follow the storage directions to get the most life out of your treats.
