What are Strawberry Brownies?
Strawberry brownies are just like the classic fudge brownie except they are flavored with strawberry cake mix. The result is the same soft yet chewy texture you get with a chocolate brownie, but with a fresh summery twist of strawberry flavor.
This brownie recipe uses a cake mix so it’s the quickest and easiest batch of brownies you’ll ever make. By slightly underbaking the cake and changing the ingredients used in the boxed cake mix, that signature brownie gooeyness is achieved without the trouble of using a double boiler or ganache method of brownie making.
Strawberry Brownie Variations:
While this simple recipe is irresistible as is, there are some fun variations you can try to add flavor and texture to these strawberry brownies.
- Add some chocolate – Of course you can add chocolate to brownies. Adding chunks of white, dark, or milk chocolate to these strawberry brownies is an absolutely delicious variation that tastes like a chocolate covered strawberry.
- Add fresh strawberries – Add chunks of fresh strawberries or swirl some of your favorite strawberry jam throughout the batter before cooking for a bright and fresh pop in every bite.
- Use a different cake mix – There are dozens of different cake mixes available you can use in this recipe that will add a fun spin. Funfetti, cherry-chip, chocolate, or golden cake to name a few.
- Try some frosting – The strawberry glaze included in this recipe adds some richness and sweetness to the brownies, but your favorite homemade or store bought icing flavor can be used in its place.
Tips for Making Strawberry Brownies:
- Use a non-stick pan lightly greased with butter or oil for easy brownie removal. You can also line the baking pan with parchment paper for easy clean up.
- Don’t bake the brownies all the way. Use a test stick or toothpick to check if the center is done. Instead of pulling out goopy or completely clean, brownies are done when there are still a few crumbs sticking to the toothpick.
- Allow the brownies to cool slightly before adding the glaze, otherwise the glaze will melt into the brownie and disappear.
- For extra fancy brownies, garnish with fresh or freeze dried strawberries.
- This recipe can be easily doubled or even tripled to feed a crowd.
How to Store Leftovers:
These brownies can be made ahead of time and will stay fresh for up to 4 days. To store leftover brownie, allow them to cool completely, and place in a container in an even single layer with a tight fitting lid.
Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
These strawberry brownies are also freezer friendly and will last for up to 3 months in the freezer.
