Ingredients:

  • Spicy sausage
  • Cream cheese
  • Bisquick
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Shredded hash brown potatoes

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

Ground sausage: You can use different flavored sausage for the balls. Or opt for traditional ground sausage, depending on your family’s preferences.

Bisquick: You can use another brand of biscuits if you prefer to stick with prepackaged options. If you want to make homemade biscuits, give our KFC biscuits a try or check out our 7 Up biscuits!

Cheddar cheese: It’s best to stick with cheddar cheese for this recipe. It adds tremendous flavor to these hash brown balls. I also recommend shredding your own cheese using a fresh block of cheese to limit preservatives and additives. Sometimes, bags of pre-shredded cheese do not melt as well as freshly grated cheddar cheese.

Add-ins: You can add in some finely diced bell pepper. You could also add in fresh herbs to increase the flavor profile. Using fresh herbs over dried herbs is highly recommended for this recipe. But either type will do!

How to Make It

Step 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. While your oven is being preheated, spend time prepping the additional ingredients for these family friendly sausage hash brown balls!

Step 2. Prep your preferred baking pan with nonstick baking spray. Or use a non-stick pan!

Step 3. Use a mixing bowl with a hook attachment to mix the sausage, cream cheese, 1 ½ cups of Bisquick, cheddar cheese, and hash browns. If you don’t have an electric mixer, you can still mix the blend with a traditional spoon or mixing utensil. You may need to mix the combination of ingredients a bit longer than if you were to use an electric mixer.
