Can I fry the Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken instead of baking it?
This recipe is intended for you to fry the chicken, not bake it. Because of the batter, baking will not be possible. Instead, fry it in hot oil over medium-high heat for the best results.
How can I make the Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken extra crispy?
Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the flour mixture; it will make the chicken extra crispy as you fry it.
It’s also important that you use really hot oil. When the oil isn’t hot enough will make the chicken mushy and not as crispy as normal.
Should I marinate or season the chicken before frying?
No, you don’t need to marinate the chicken. You can marinate it if you want to, but it’s not a required step.
What is the best way to store leftovers of Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken?
Let the crispy honey garlic chicken cool down, then refrigerate for up to 4 days. For best results, I recommend reheating it in a skillet over medium heat or by air frying for 5–6 minutes or until hot.
Note: You can refrigerate the chicken with the sauce or without.
What temperature should I fry the Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken?
The oil should be at 375 degrees F to properly fry the honey garlic chicken. It will leave the breading nice and crispy, just the way you want it.
Can I freeze the Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken?
Yes, let the chicken cool then place it in a freezer bag or container. It will last up to 3 months in the freezer. Thaw and reheat before warming up.
Is it possible to make the recipe spicy?
Yes, you can add some red pepper flakes to the flour mixture as well as the sauce. That will bump up the heat factor. You can also add a little cayenne pepper to the sauce too.
What are some side dishes that go well with Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken?
- Rice
- Egg rolls
- Wontons
- Egg drop soup
- Noodles
Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?
Yes, it’s fine to use chicken thighs. However, you need to make sure you are using boneless skinless chicken thighs for this honey garlic chicken recipe.
Can I add other seasonings to the Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken?
Sprinkle in some red pepper flakes, onion powder, or any of your favorite seasonings. Season until your heart desires!
How long does Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken take to cook?
It takes about 30 minutes to complete this honey garlic chicken recipe. It’s very easy to make and cooks quickly.
Can I use boneless chicken for this recipe?
Yes, you should be using boneless, skinless chicken. The pieces should be cut to bite-sized to get optimal results. Bone in chicken would make it very difficult to eat and serve.
Should I use fresh or pre-minced garlic for this recipe?
Either will work fine. We prefer to use fresh minced garlic because it has a more robust flavor, but you can certainly use jarred garlic.
