Start with a thin layer of pudding to anchor the cake. Next add the cake cut into cubes. Follow with another layer of pudding but this time make sure that it goes all the way to the edge of the trifle bowl – using 1/2 of the pudding. Next add 1/2 of the fruit, followed by 1/2 of the whipped cream. Add the remaining cake cubes. The final layer of the pudding mixture goes on next, followed by most of the fruit. Top with remaining whipped cream and remaining fruit.
Will a trifle get soggy overnight?
The cake absorbs the moisture from the fruit and pudding but doesn’t get soggy, just moist and flavorful. Make sure that the trifle is refrigerated to maintain freshness and keep it from becoming soggy.

What you need to make Lemon Berry Trifle:
- Angel food cake crumbled into pieces
- Heavy whipping cream divided
- Milk
- Lemon-flavored instant pudding
- Lemon juice
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Strawberries sliced
- Blueberries
- Blackberries for garnish
How to make Lemon Berry Trifle:
Step 1. In a mixing bowl, combine the two boxes of lemon pudding with 2 C. heavy whipping cream, 2 cups of milk, and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Whisk until well combined and smooth. Chill for 1 hour.
Step 2. Add the remaining 2 cups of heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a mixing bowl and beat on high until stiff peaks form.
Step 3. Place a layer of half of the cake pieces in the bottom of a large serving bowl.
Step 4. Top the cake with ½ of the lemon pudding mixture.
Then ½ of the strawberries, blueberries, and half of the whipped cream.
Step 5. Repeat the same layers one more time and garnish with blackberries on top before serving.

Instructions
