- The simplicity of it! You don’t have to empty out your pantry to enjoy this one.
- It doesn’t require much attention from you. You can cook it overnight, or place the beef in the crockpot and get busy with chores and unwinding with movies. You get to keep your arms folded, whilst the cooking happens for you.
- Incredibly comforting! The creamy combination hits all the right spots.
- Easy and straightforward. If you don’t like scratching your head over a recipe, or wondering what to do – this one is for you!
What cut of meat is best for beef stroganoff?
Fresh cuts of stewed beef are my absolute favourite for this crock pot beef stroganoff recipe. Magic happens when you just chuck them into a crock pot full of flavours, and slow cook them until perfectly tender.
Why does my beef stroganoff taste sour?
Adding in too many acidic ingredients! An excess of worcestershire sauce, tomatoes, vinegar or wine will not end well in this dish. Crockpot beef stroganoff is delicate and shouldn’t be overwhelmed with a heavy amount of acidic or ingredients. It requires balance and moderation.
A quick fix for sour beef stroganoff is adding in sweet ingredients like honey, sugar or caramelised onions. These ingredients excel in counteracting any sour flavours present.
How to serve Crockpot Beef Stroganoff?
This easy crock pot beef stroganoff is not only complemented by noodles. Simply serve it warm with mashed potatoes, potato salad, a no-mayo loaded baked potato salad. You can even replace the noodles with garlic, rosemary or pita bread.
Crockpot Beef Stroganoff Cooking Tips:
- Cook beef at low or moderate temperature for the recommended time.
- Be careful not to overcook the egg noodles. Good texture increases enjoyment.
- If you prefer adding the soup toward the end, you can add it into the crock pot during the last 40 minutes to 1 hour of cooking.
Variations:
- If you don’t like the sour cream version of it, there’s a soup version (like ours).
- If you like a sweeter taste, the wine version might be your favorite.
- You can change the cut of meat from stewed to lean beef mince, which is quicker but doesn’t have that tender and juicy meaty effect.
