Ingredients For Cream Cheese Garlic Alfredo Sauce:
½ C. Butter
8 oz. Cream cheese cut into pieces
1 ½ tsp. Garlic powder
1 C. Heavy whipping cream
1 C. Chicken broth
1 C. Parmesan cheese grated
Salt and pepper to taste
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
Cream cheese: While I recommend using full-fat cream cheese for a rich, creamy Alfredo sauce, you can use reduced fat to significantly cut back on the fat and calories in this sauce.
Chicken broth: Instead of traditional chicken broth, you can use chicken bouillon cubes as a solid replacement. Keep in mind, this will add more salt to your sauce, so you may not need to add salt later on. Test your recipe as you go to prevent over-salting the sauce.
Parmesan cheese: It’s best to use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for this recipe. However, if you do not have fresh Parmesan available, feel free to use jarred Parmesan.
Heavy whipping cream: More often than not, heavy whipping cream is the key to this sauce in addition to the cream cheese. If you do not have any heavy whipping cream to use, you can try full-fat milk. Keep in mind, this will likely make your sauce a bit thinner, which you may or may not prefer!
How to Make It
Step 1. First, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Be careful not to burn the butter or allow it to brown too much. Avoid cooking the butter on high, even if you’re in a rush.

Step 2. Add the cream cheese and garlic powder into the skillet once the butter is mostly melted. Stir until the cream cheese is melted. Tip: Allow your cream cheese to sit out on the counter to come to room temperature, first. This will make it much easier to melt and work with in the skillet.

Step 3. Whisk in the heavy whipping cream and chicken broth.

Step 4. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce to medium-low heat.
Step 5. Stir in the parmesan and salt and pepper to taste.

Step 6. Sauté the sauce until it begins to thicken. Remove it from the heat.
Step 7. Serve over your choice of noodles or use the sauce as a dipping sauce for your favorite chicken dinner!

Tips for Success
Allow your butter and cream cheese to soften on the counter before making this sauce. This will make it much easier to combine, mix, and cook the ingredients evenly on the stove.
Keep stirring the sauce as you’re adding ingredients. This will prevent ingredients from sticking to the pan (or together). It will also ensure the mixture is fully combined once you’re ready to serve it.
Storage & Reheating
Storing this sauce is simple. You can store this garlic Alfredo sauce in miniature single-serving Tupperware containers or airtight containers for up to 4 days in your refrigerator. Be sure to use a container with a seal to protect the sauce from hardening or going bad.
You can also freeze your cream cheese garlic Alfredo sauce in freezer-safe containers or Tupperware for up to 3 months!
Reheating this sauce is easy. Simply remove your frozen or refrigerated sauce and allow it to come to room temperature (or close to it). Reheat on the stove over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes in a traditional pot. You can also reheat your Alfredo sauce in the microwave using a microwave-safe container for 1 to 2 minutes, per serving.

Wow! This is really good!! That cream cheese flavor is a game changer for sure! It is a bit salty to me, so I didn’t add any. This will serve as a once a year treat!!
